SPRADDLE CREEK
This is a beautiful home located across the valley from the Vail ski mountain. Situated on a severely steep slope, the challenge was to design a home that took full advantage of the wonderful sun and views while fitting it on the hillside. A series of stone walls, perpendicular to the slope, ground the house into the hillside and create a rhythm for organizing the interior spaces. The simple material palette of stone, wood, and glass give the home a sturdy and timeless quality. Sunlight warms the interior and animates the interior stone walls while the views create a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The project was completed with Zehren and Associates, Inc.
